Cosmetic Cases

Improving your smile is one of the best ways to make yourself look younger.

A beautiful smile will increase your self-confidence and may even help you socially and professionally. We offer an array of cosmetic dentistry procedures at Warsash Dental Practice including teeth whitening, tooth coloured restorative materials and porcelain veneers.

Teeth Whitening

This is a simple non-invasive way to improve the appearance of your teeth.

A tooth whitening agent is applied to the patients teeth either in the surgery by the clinician (in office technique). Or at home using whitening trays.

The agent penetrates the enamel surface, lightening the darker dentine layer underneath. Leaving the teeth looking lighter, cleaner and healthier.

The whitening process will require ‘topping up’ from time to time. This depends on consumption of staining food and drinks.

Tooth Coloured

Restorative Materials

Over the last 10 years there has been a dramatic improvement in tooth coloured filling materials. In order to replicate the colour, hue and translucency of enamel and dentine.

There has also been a great advancement in the adhesives used to predictably bond these material to the tooth surface.

These materials are placed onto the tooth surface and then sculpted by the clinician to replicate the desired shape of the tooth.

Single Laminate Veneer

When a single tooth is misaligned, misshapen or discoloured a single veneer    can be used to mask this.

Veneers are thin porcelain plates, custom made to order by a technician. The tooth surface is prepared to allow space for the thickness of the veneer. An impression is then taken and the colour of the veneer chosen.

The veneer is then bonded to the prepared surface of the tooth.

The veneer material is extremely colour stable and will not change colour over time.

If the patient requests teeth whitening, this is carried out before the laminate veneer is placed.

Multiple Laminate Veneers

Where more than one tooth is misaligned, discoloured or misshapen multiple laminate veneers may be employed to correct this.

In this case four teeth were involved in order to mask the discoloured tooth, close the gaps between the teeth and reduce the prominence of the two central incisors.

Waxed ‘mock up’ study models are used to plan the new shape of the teeth before the laminates are constructed.

Smile Design

This is a relative new concept in cosmetic dentistry where most or all of the teeth in the smile zone are involved the treatment process. The clinician, technician and patient will work together to make clear the objectives of treatment and formulate a treatment plan. This usually combines whitening, tooth coloured restorative materials and multiple laminate veneers.

By involving all the teeth in the smile zone, the patient will be left with confident beautiful smile.
